We’re excited to share that Echoview will be part of the upcoming Fisheries & Benthic Monitoring Conference TechSurge, a two-day event uniting experts from across sectors to explore advancements in monitoring technologies that support responsible offshore development. Details:
- Location: The University of Rhode Island, Bay Campus (Narragansett, Rhode Island)
- Date: 8-9 October.
Organized by the Marine Technology Society, in partnership with Rhode Island Sea Grant and the University of Rhode Island (URI) and, in collaboration with the Responsible Offshore Science Alliance (ROSA) and the Northeast Regional Ocean Council (NROC), TechSurge features expert panels, student poster sessions, lightning talks, and an interactive technology exhibition.
Dr. Louise McGarry’s Talk
Hydroacoustic Specialist, Dr. Louise McGarry from our Science Team, will be presenting a talk ‘Active Acoustics: Monitoring Fish Distribution and Abundance at Offshore Energy Sites’ in the session Use of Technology and/or Methodologies to Transition from Traditional Survey Techniques. Louise will share insights into how active acoustic technologies, such as echosounders, provide high-resolution, non-extractive, full water column monitoring of fish distribution and abundance around offshore energy installations.
She will highlight advances in quantitative survey methods, increasingly sophisticated acoustic capabilities, and deployment platforms that broaden applications for ocean science and monitoring.
In addition to her main talk, during the interactive technology exhibit Louise will deliver a Lightning Talk on the vital role of Echoview in understanding aquatic ecosystems.
About Echoview
Louise will also be sharing information about how we support responsible offshore development through our hydroacoustics expertise. This includes our flagship software, Echoview, which reads data from a wide range of echosounders and sonars, whether deployed on moving or fixed platforms. Echoview empowers users to visualize and interpret active acoustic data, supporting high-resolution investigations of the distribution and abundance of aquatic organisms (fish and zooplankton), and classification of the seafloor terrain to help understand its role as habitat.
Beyond software we also offer specialized training, consulting, and other tailored services to meet the needs of marine scientists, environmental researchers, and blue economy professionals.
If you'd like to arrange a meeting with Louise during the event or arrange a catchup nearby, please reach out to us at info@echoview.com.
