Echoview Software’s science team is growing, and we’re looking for candidates with experience in active hydroacoustic data processing using Echoview or other software.
Echoview Software is based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, a city internationally respected for its Antarctic and Southern Ocean science, education, and research community. The role is based here in Hobart (subject to governmental visa approval if applicable), but we're also interested to hear from candidates that could be based in Europe, especially the UK.
As a Hydroacoustics Specialist you will play a key role within Echoview Software’s science team, which is responsible for customer support, training, science communication, research and development, technical sales advice, and participation in marketing and customer-contact activities.
You will actively engage with our international clients to enhance their understanding of hydroacoustics and support their use of Echoview, and to contribute a scientific perspective to marketing, R&D activities, and product development plans.
What we are looking for
- MSc or PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant area
- Understanding of active hydroacoustics and its application to the study of underwater environments, preferably through authorship of peer-reviewed scientific papers
- Experience working with echosounder/sonar systems such as those from Kongsberg, Simrad, BioSonics, ASL Environmental, Reson or Sound Metrics
- Experience with post-processing software for the analysis of active hydroacoustic data
- Good English communication skills - both written and verbal
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally
