We were delighted to support and participate in a recent training seminar in Suzhou, China dedicated to advancing knowledge in hydroacoustic data collection and processing.

Hosted by Suzhou Neptune Sense Technology Co Ltd, the seminar brought together students, researchers, and industry professionals from across China. The event focused on Kongsberg Discovery’s EK80 echosounders and the processing of active acoustic data using Echoview.

Presentations from Kongsberg Discovery and other industry experts highlighted emerging trends in underwater acoustics and the growing importance of precise, reliable data analysis for aquatic environmental monitoring, fisheries research, and resource management.

Chief Scientist Briony Hutton, alongside Sales Manager Rowland Washington, delivered technical, interactive sessions demonstrating how to efficiently process, visualize, and interpret EK80 echosounder data in Echoview. Participants gained practical experience working with real acoustic datasets, including visualizing backscatter data, identifying biological targets, and applying acoustic techniques to real-world research and monitoring applications.
