The State University of New Jersey, Rutgers, is seeking a Research Program Coordinator for the Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences.
The position includes data analysis, visualization, and interpretation of acoustic-based data collected using autonomous ocean observing platforms for several ongoing and upcoming projects led by The Rutgers University Center for Ocean Observing Leadership (RUCOOL) Faculty.
This position entails utilizing specialized software techniques to determine zooplankton and/or fish targets, abundance, and biomass from echosounder data. This position also includes the task of laboratory-based zooplankton sample analysis to integrate into the acoustic analytical approaches.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Responsible for management of the acoustic-related data, developing data products and writing supplementary text for a wide range of uses, presenting the data to different target audiences, and training graduate students on acoustic data analysis techniques and/or data interpretation.
- Perform professional work that requires general knowledge of oceanography and specialized knowledge of acoustic data analysis, data visualization and data interpretation.
- Have a solid understanding of the use and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applications of acoustic data analysis.
