The Centre for Ecology and Conservation at the University of Exeter Penryn Campus is seeking to appoint a new Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Marine Ecology and Conservation, to support their partnership with the University of Khorfakkan, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Applications welcome from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.
They are particularly interested to hear from applicants with research experience in the Middle East and/or Arabian Sea, or with the ability to establish new research programmes in the region to support their partnership. The post will include the leadership of high-impact research projects and networks, the sourcing of funding for research, and the delivery of primary scientific outputs and impact case studies. Education roles will focus on the delivery of marine modules and project supervision and support of students from the UAE, alongside students from the UK and the rest of the world. Periods of education and research will be required in UAE as well as in the UK.
About you
You will have:
- A PhD or equivalent in Marine Ecology and Conservation, or similar area, and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in this speciality
- A research focus on marine systems in the Middle East and/or Arabian Sea, or a willingness to initiate new, high quality, research programmes in the region.
- A strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrate potential to attract such funding
- An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
- Experience of delivering high quality undergraduate or postgraduate programmes and providing pastoral support to students.
- Involvement in projects which develop impact
- A strong potential for research leadership
- A track record in refereed publications and success in significant grant capture
- Relationships with external organisations and funders and knowledge and experience of key sectors or business challenges
