We're pleased to announce the release of Echoview 17, introducing new capabilities designed to help researchers gain deeper insights, work more efficiently, and get more value from their acoustic data.
With major enhancements to time series workflows and expanded analysis capabilities, Echoview 17 makes it easier to add context, develop customized analytical workflows, compare processing approaches, and work with a broader range of information. Additional improvements include more flexible detection configurations, expanded Code operator capabilities, automation enhancements, support for new data types, and interface refinements designed to improve everyday efficiency.
Developed with the expertise of our scientists, software developers, quality assurance specialists, and support team, Echoview 17 reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the hydroacoustics community and advancing the science and applications that depend on acoustic technologies.
Echoview 17 is available to all license holders with an up-to-date Maintenance and Technical Support (MATS) plan or an active subscription or lease.

Key highlights
New Time Series capabilities
Echoview 17 significantly expands the role of time series, helping you connect acoustic observations with environmental measurements, platform information, derived metrics, and other supporting data. Including:
- Display time series directly on echograms to make relationships between acoustic and contextual data easier to identify.
- View multiple time series on a single graph for clearer comparison of related measurements.
- Create and process time series with new operators, including Solar elevation at pings, Code - Time series and Type conversion - Time series.
- Relate acoustic observations to daylight conditions using the Solar elevation at pings operator, which provides a biologically meaningful representation of time of day.
- Apply familiar line operations to time series variables, expanding analysis and workflow possibilities.
Expanded data and file format support
Echoview 17 expands support for acoustic and ancillary data, including:
- Compatibility with Tritech Gemini (*.glf) imaging sonar files.
- Kongsberg EK80 passive data split into new raw variables.
- More flexible handling of text-based data. A new tool to add a folder of data at once.
Improved Dataflow and workspace management
Echoview 17 introduces a more streamlined Dataflow experience with the Dataflow Toolbox now located directly within the Dataflow window, creating a more integrated workspace and making better use of the available screen area. A new keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+T, can be used to quickly show or hide the Toolbox.
Objects now snap to a grid as they are moved, helping keep complex dataflows organized. Variables with warnings are visually marked within the Dataflow, making items requiring attention easier to locate. Window management has also been improved, with new options to reset EV file and application layouts to their default state, and better preservation of docking arrangements after Echoview is minimized and restored.
Multiple detection configurations
Echoview 17 now supports multiple detection configurations for single beam and multibeam school and fish track detections. Different parameter configurations can be maintained within the same project and revisited without repeatedly adjusting individual detection settings, using the new Region Detection page in EV File Properties. This makes it easier to develop and compare methods, review alternative settings, and evaluate how configuration changes affect detection results.
Analyze a broader range of data
Interval Analysis can now work with additional data types, including power, TS, linear and unspecified dB, extending familiar Echoview analysis tools and exporters to a wider range of measurements.
Analysis exports can now include the ECS filename, making it easier to track the calibration file used when reviewing and reporting results.
Plus more enhancements
Echoview 17 also includes additional improvements, including:
- User-defined arguments for Code operators make scripts easier to adjust and reuse.
- A new Remove duplicate positions operator for identifying and ignoring duplicate GPS fixes.
- Wideband processing enhancements including a frequency exclusion option in the Wideband frequency subset operator.
- Support for multibeam data in the Crop Samples operator.
- Flexible storage locations for EVI files.
- Improved file-reading performance for data stored on cloud-hosted platforms.
