The role

We are seeking a Software Developer to join our engineering team and contribute to the ongoing development of the Echoview application suite. You will work in a collaborative, supportive environment alongside experienced software engineers and scientists, helping to design, build, test, and improve high-quality commercial software. Depending on your experience, you will be involved in:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining software applications
  • Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code to meet agreed specifications
  • Contributing to software design, architecture, and technical discussions
  • Testing, debugging, and improving existing and new features
  • Collaborating with engineers, scientists, and product specialists

The scope of the role will be tailored to your skills and experience, with mentoring and learning opportunities available. We welcome applications from:

  • Graduate software engineers
  • Software developers / software engineers with commercial experience
  • Scientists or technical specialists looking to transition into a commercial software development role

What we are looking for

Required:

  • Tertiary qualification in computer science, software engineering, physics, mathematics, environmental science, or a related field
  • Experience with programming, coding, or scripting languages (academic, research, or commercial)
  • Interest in developing complex, performance-focused software applications
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • The right to work in Australia

Desirable:

  • Experience with C++ (or similar compiled languages)
  • Familiarity with physics, mathematics or marine science
