Postdoctoral fellow positions at the Marine Ecology and Acoustics Lab in the Institute of Environment

The Marine Ecology and Acoustics Lab in the Institute of Environment at Florida International University is an interdisciplinary team of researchers which focus on aspects of understanding the interacting factors that mediate the distributional patterns, behavior, habitat use, energetics and ecology of nekton, including the implications of ecosystem variability, particularly for rapidly changing environments.


Their research program operates across multiple temporal and spatial scales to address important process-oriented questions related to organismal ecology and conservation. Current research efforts in the lab can be grouped into three main threads: 1) evaluating the importance of ecosystem variability in structuring biotic resources; 2) understanding the role of predator-prey interactions on controlling aggregated prey behavior, structure, and energetics; and 3) development and application of advanced remote technology for improving non-invasive survey methodologies.
