The Natural Resources Institute Finland LUKE (Finland) and the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment INRAE (France) are organizing an international workshop entitled “Advances in the analyses of the riverine acoustic camera data". The workshop will be held in Rennes, France, on March 15-17 2022.
The aim of the workshop is to bring together a panel of international experts, sonar users, and renowned keynote speakers to present an overview of the latest development and solutions in acquisition and analysis of acoustic imaging data for monitoring fish populations in rivers.
In the first session (15-16 March), participants are invited to present how acoustic imaging is used to answer scientific and management questions, and discuss the limitations and solutions. The keynote speakers Dr. Kevin Boswell (Florida International University, US), Dr. Juha Lilja (Natural Resources Institute Finland, Finland), and Dr. Carl Pfisterer (Alaska Department of Fish and Game, US) will be in Rennes, sharing their experience and knowledge. The first session is a hybrid event (in-person and virtual live-streaming), to ensure a wide international audience.
The second session (March 17 in-person only), will focus on automated analysis methods developed by the scientific community. Research groups, already identified, will be presenting their methods, comparing different approaches, and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of in different situations and datasets.
